Patrick Eilers

Patrick Eilers, M.A., LLPC, earned his master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Moody Theological Seminary - Michigan. He has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Patrick was a former adjunct professor of psychology at Concordia University (2018-19); and at Jackson College (2019). Patrick utilizes a broad range of therapeutic techniques that are empirically sound with the flexibility to meet the goals of his clients. This is achieved by utilizing one's current strengths at the same time discovering, and then implementing, new skills in which a client can employ as they move forward on their journey of life.

Sexual Addiction Recovery (Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder) - As a CSAT candidate, Patrick, is trained to look at multiple dimensions of sexual behavior, compulsion, and the problematic use of digital sexual media (pornography, etc.), as well as helping his clients understand relational intimacy challenges. Patrick believes it is necessary to identify all “root” causes through specific techniques that are designed to help an individual better understand, not just the behavior, but themselves.

Dr. Patrick Carnes states, sexual addiction is defined as any sexually-related, compulsive behavior which interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones, and one's work environment. Sexual addiction has been called sexual dependency and/or compulsive sexual behavior disorder, as well as countless others. By any name, it is a compulsive behavior that completely dominates the addict's life. Sexual addicts make sex a priority more important than family, friends, and work. Sex becomes the organizing principle of addict's lives. They are willing to sacrifice what they cherish most in order to preserve and continue their unhealthy behavior.
