John Sternfels
John Sternfels, LPC, NCC, CSAT, CSASI, CMAT, CCPS, MITS, EMDR Trained, is the owner and director of NorthPoint Professional Counseling. He received his Master's Degree in Professional Counseling at Liberty University. John has many years of combined experience working with Teenagers, Men, Women, and Couples. Additionally, John provides local Marital Workshops and Seminars.
John specializes in helping individuals and couples work through personal and/or relational life challenges including marital therapy along with a special focus on sexual addictive behaviors. John provides the knowledge and tools necessary to help increase communications, trust, respect, emotional and mental health – all of which help to improve and empower relationships. As with any life challenge, the sooner you seek help, the easier it will be to resolve.

Qualifications – John is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); National Board Certified Counselor (NCC); Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) from the International Institute For Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP); Certified Clinical Sexual Addiction Specialist (CCSAS) from the International Association of Certified Sexual Addiction Specialists, Inc. (IACSAS); Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT) from the International Institute For Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP); Certified Clinical Partner Specialist (CCPS) from The Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS); Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR); and is a Mentoring Institute Trained Supervisor (MITS).
NBCC - John is a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC). John believes that by choosing a mental health professional for yourself or a family member is an important decision. National Board Certified Counselors (NCCs) are master’s-level (or higher) mental health professionals who have voluntarily met high national standards in education and experience, and have passed a rigorous examination. CSAT and CMAT – (Sexual Addiction Recovery / Multiple Addiction Recovery) John is both a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT). The CSAT / CMAT training and certification programs are recognized as leaders and experts within the field of sex addiction and multiple addiction recovery. John utilizes researched based assessment tools and the 30-task model treatment methodology to deliver an unprecedented approach to addiction recovery for trauma, sexual addiction and co-occurring addictions.
CCSAS – (Sex Addiction Therapy) John utilizes a clinically sound trauma-model therapy from a Christian perspective of sexual addiction and compulsivity. By providing the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct, John provides the best available resources for people suffering from sexual addiction and their spouses/partners/families.
CCPS – (Partner Relational Care) John is trained in the (APSAT) Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model (M-PTM). John believes the M-PTM provides thorough treatment strategies based on empirically-based trauma treatment modalities to foster trauma resolution and relational healing in partner relational trauma.
Marriage Therapy – (Gottman and Prepare and Enrich) John has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is Prepare and Enrich trained.
